Billiards & Snooker Club Championships 2019

Billiards & Snooker Club Championships 2019

Once again, the year has been capped off with the conclusion of the Billiards & Snooker Club Championships.

The Championships concluded with a new name on the Honour Board along with the Eric Wells Memorial Trophy. Open snooker has been dominated by Tom Cameron, who was the current club champion over the past 5 years. Hugh Gengoult-Smith won the first frame comfortably with Tom surging ahead in the second to level the match at one all. Hugh was out of the blocks early in the decider and managed to hang on after some nervous moments. Congratulations Hugh!

Warwick Loton narrowly defeated Hugh Gengoult-Smith in the snooker handicap, with a steady performance after giving away a healthy lead from his handicap and a strong start from Hugh.

Warwick Loton also won the billiards handicap event over archrival Tom Cameron. This event proved to be one of the longest finals played, due to a very strategic game by both players. Warwick’s plan of gaining a lead from the beginning and being conservative during the second half of the game paid off.

We congratulate Hugh, Warwick and Tom and thank all participants for their contribution to the championships, especially for adhering to our tight draw in a timely manner.
